High-efficiency lavatory faucets:

WaterSense labeled faucets and faucet accessories use about 30% less water than conventional lavatory faucets, and each model is tested and certified for efficiency and performance. WaterSense labeled lavatory faucets or faucet accessories, such as aerators, are intended for installation in private restrooms such as those found in residences and hotels and hospital guest rooms. These Products can save as much as 300 gallons of water per faucet per year.

Alliance for Water Efficiency

The Alliance for Water Efficiency is a national no-profit organization that promotes the efficient and sustainable use of water. The Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 1992 and subsequent EPAct actions limited faucet flows to 2.2 gpm ( at 60 psi). In the mid 1990s, however, the U.S. plumbing codes and standards further reduced that maximum flow rate to 0.5 gpm for public ( non-residental) applications.
